A Bridge to the Hebrew Roots of Scripture
We are a teaching ministry acting as a bridge to help those seeking all of God's truth to understand the Hebrew origins of the Scriptures, in order to:
Help fill in the gaps of our understanding of Scripture.
Help to grow and mature in God's Word.
Know more about Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), and their identity in Him so that they are able to minister the love of God to others.
Pastor Terrence Reed has been a dedicated and loyal leader for over 20 years. He is Pastor of Shema Debar Ministries in Elk Grove, California. Shema Debar Ministries is a teaching ministry that serves as a bridge to understanding the Hebrew origins of the Scriptures. Their teaching is devoted to empowering the believer and seekers of God’s truth to gain a deeper understanding of God’s Word, and a deeper intimacy with Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), through growth and maturity in the Word of God.
Dr. Reed has previously served as Associate Pastor at Word of the Kingdom Ministries in Sacramento, California (2011-2021). Prior to that he was an Associate Pastor at Resurrection Power Evangelistic Center (RPEC) in Stockton, California where he led Men’s Ministry, and along with his wife, Debrán, wrote and established a seven-course discipleship training series for preparing believers to live according to, and to share the Word of God. They additionally served together as leaders of the Member Care Ministry, and as co-leaders of the Marriage Enrichment Ministry. Having a passion for the emerging generations, Pastor Reed also served a stint as Youth Church Teacher.
Pastor Reed received his Doctorate in Theology (2020) from Sacramento Theological Seminary. Minister Debrán received her Master’s Degree in Theology (2024) from Temple Theological Institute and Bible College. They have been engrossed in studying the Scriptures in-depth for 20 years and share the Apostle Paul's sentiments in II Timothy 2:15 "Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.”
The Reeds reside in Elk Grove, California, and are blessed to share five children and eight grandchildren.
Grounded in Scripture, guided by the Spirit
We believe in One God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is the Creator of the entire universe. The world came into existence by His Word. He is the only Source of the universe and there is no independent power beyond His control.
We believe in the holy Scriptures — the Tanahk (Torah, Prophets, Writings/Old Testament), and the B'rit Chadashah (Renewed Covenant/New Testament) which includes the teachings of Yeshua (Jesus) and His disciples. The Scriptures are the inspired Word of God. We also believe in the unchangeability of God's divine Law (Torah), which was and is the basis and condition of the eternal covenant between God and His people. We also believe that the teaching of Yeshua does not cancel, but affirms the Law of God (Torah) and reveals its spiritual depth and meaning.
We believe that Yeshua is the promised Messiah, that He is the hope and the light for all those who believe in and serve Him. As the Anointed of God, He lived a righteous and sinless life according to all the requirements of God's Torah. He died and rose from the dead, according to the Scriptures. He has been given all power in heaven and on earth.
Through the atonement work of His righteous Life, Death, and Resurrection, we have salvation. The meaning of the name Yeshua is Salvation. We believe in the divinity of Yeshua; He is the living Word of God — the Living Torah, through which everything came into being.
We believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are restored to God as a gift of His grace, through the redemption that is in Messiah Yeshua, and that all people have the right to this gift when they accept Yeshua for the forgiveness of sins and for life with God.
We believe that the immersion and sanctification of the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) is God's gift for overcoming and killing the sinful nature, and for living according to His commandments.
We believe in the ministry and action of the Holy Spirit in our time, in that it is the Holy Spirit who dwells in believers that gives them the strength to live a godly life.
We believe that all people who believe in the Messiah Yeshua, have access to God and are the spiritual Body of the Messiah.
We believe in the resurrection from the dead of all who have ever lived on the earth, for eternal life with God, or for complete separation from Him.
